Press Release: The Conscious "It" Clutch!

Posted by TORRAIN Recycled Bags on

Eco-chic and beyond unique, TORRAIN's repurposed bags, wallets, and clutches are fresh and functional for 2015

At TORRAIN, global consciousness and modern design principles unite in every one of their meticulously sewn designs. By upcycling feed bags, magazines, and even cement bags, they're saving energy, reducing the amount of pollutants in the environment, and rediscovering the beauty in discarded items. Their clever creations are a thoughtful and functional way to start the new year right.

Round Pleated ClutchHit the town in style with an adorable pouch that's perfectly poised for a night of fun. The Round Pleated Clutch --large enough to store all your essential belongings and be used as a purse--  is crafted from recycled rice bags and features vibrant colors and motifs not seen elsewhere. Its roomy size makes it easy to store everything you need when on-the-go!

Clutch WalletEveryone needs a place to store their cash and cards, so why not look hip at the same time? Their Clutch Wallet features a bi-fold overflap and bold, eye-catching designs while it withstands the wear and tear of everyday life. Inside is a handy accordion style pocket, cash and card storage slots, and a useful plastic ID window for taking all her chic essentials along for the ride.

Laminated Toiletry BagFor those who never know where the road will lead, the Laminated Toiletry Bag is a travel tote after their own hearts. This diverse bag is useful for a myriad of purposes. Use it in the traditional sense for toiletries or makeup, or break out from the stereotypes by loading it with the day's lunch, chargers or power cords, and so much more.

TORRAIN was launched in 2009 after a fateful visit to a night market in Cambodia. Nyla Jano, founder of the brand, was struck with the beauty and innovative use of recycled materials found in one seller's items. Sothea, a local woman, purchased discarded materials and then employed nearby families to wash, dry and sew them into colorful tote bags. Introductions were made and soon Nyla and Sothea were working together to provide an opportunity for Cambodian artisans to work at a fair wage in the comfort of their own communities, while providing the world with stylish, eco-friendly staples.
