Artisans, Not Assembly Lines
Since 2011, we've built a network of about 20 skilled artisans in Cambodia who bring every piece to life.
Our artisans work from their own homes, surrounded by their families and communities, on their terms, at their pace. It's a model that respects the rhythm of daily life instead of demanding people bend to a production line.
We pay fair wages for real skill, real time, and real livelihood. We believe the people behind our products deserve to share in the value they create.
Nourishing these relationships matters to us, so we don't just work with our artisans from afar. We travel to Cambodia to visit them in person and to work alongside them; hands in the process, not just names on an invoice. It's how we ensure quality and authenticity, and how we keep the relationship rooted in trust.
We are ever struck by the genuine warmth and openness of Cambodian people. There's a kinship that's grown between us that goes far beyond business, and that we carry with us in all we create.
Turning the tide on ocean plastic with CleanHub.
In 2026, we’re taking our sustainability efforts further by partnering with CleanHub, a mission-driven organization dedicated to stopping ocean-bound plastic pollution.
Our 1:1 model continues, but now 1 bag sold = 1 lb of plastic recovered.
Through this partnership, TORRAIN funds the collection and responsible processing of plastic waste in vulnerable coastal regions, preventing it from ever entering oceans or natural environments.
How it works
Through CleanHub,
- We fund projects that collect plastic waste - either directly from nature, at community collection points or directly from local households.
- The plastic is then sorted and any material that can be recycled is reused. Plastic that cannot be recycled is used as an alternative fuel in cement production, replacing coal and gas. This prevents the plastic from entering the environment again.
- We track and report impact transparently, so our community can see measurable progress.
Impact is in our DNA
On Earth Day 2019, TORRAIN launched our 1:1 Initiative. For every item sold, we donated $1 to rotating organizations doing vital work for our planet and its people. It was a meaningful place to start, but we wanted to create a more direct impact. That search led us to CleanHub.
Today, our 1:1 model is simple: for every bag sold, 1 lb of plastic is recovered. It makes our impact more tangible, more measurable, and closely connected to the materials problem we care deeply about.
Thank you for being part of this mission. We’re proud of where we’ve been, where we’re going, and the future we’re working to build together.
