On a broad scale, the agricultural industry is one of the largest emitters of CO2 and greenhouse gases. When you add in emissions from forestry and other land use, agriculture accounts for just under 25 percent of human-created greenhouse gas (CHG) emissions. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), “Leveraging the mitigation potential in the agriculture, forestry, and land use sector is extremely important in meeting emission reduction targets.”

It’s one of the reasons we do what we do; we’d like to be able to take what has been discarded and turn it into something fun and exciting, with hope that it lessens the impact on the environment. So, of course, throughout this entire pandemic we have been thinking about how its caused an influx of single use items ending up in our oceans and landfills.
